Health Tourism Economics – Course Introduction

The Health Tourism Economics course provides an in-depth understanding of the economic foundations of health tourism, with a special focus on value chains, economic models, feasibility studies, service pricing policies, and medical tourism market analysis. Delivered over a two-week intensive period, the course equips participants with analytical and practical tools to evaluate, plan, and manage economically sustainable health tourism projects.

The course explores the complete value chain of health tourism, from healthcare service providers and tourism operators to facilitators, insurers, and supporting industries. Participants will examine different economic models applied in health tourism, assess investment opportunities, and conduct feasibility studies for medical and wellness tourism projects.

Special emphasis is placed on pricing strategies and service costing, considering quality, competitiveness, international standards, and market dynamics. In addition, the course provides a comprehensive analysis of regional and global medical tourism markets, demand trends, target segments, and competitive positioning.

By the end of the two-week program, learners will have a clear economic perspective on health tourism, enabling them to make informed decisions in planning, investment, policy development, and management within the health tourism sector.
