Dr. Abdelaty Elmannaee – Urology Consultant & Pioneer of Affordable Health Tourism

Dr. Abdelaty Elmannaee is a distinguished Urology Consultant, health management specialist, and one of the most influential voices shaping the future of health tourism across the Middle East and Africa. With a strong clinical foundation in urology and andrology, complemented by a master’s degree in Hospital Administration, he has built a unique career that bridges medicine, health systems development, and innovative models of patient-centered travel for treatment.

Over the past years, Dr. Elmannaee has emerged as a regional expert in health tourism—known for his strategic vision, scientific contributions, and field experience designing programs and medical pathways that enhance international patient mobility. He is widely recognized as the first scholar to define and articulate the concept of “Affordable Health Tourism” (السياحة الصحية الميسرة)، a model that focuses on equitable access to cross-border healthcare for low- and middle-income populations. His framework aims to democratize medical travel by expanding opportunities for patients who cannot afford traditional commercial medical tourism, ensuring quality, safety, and dignity remain at the core of the experience.

In addition to this pioneering contribution, Dr. Elmannaee is also credited as the first to design “Environmental Healing Maps”—integrated geographical models that highlight regions with natural therapeutic characteristics. These maps combine environmental science, medical insights, and public health indicators to identify healing-oriented destinations. His environmental healing maps were developed for Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Morocco, South Sudan, and Iran—countries with diverse climates and natural assets that support therapeutic and wellness-based travel. These maps have been referenced in national dialogues on sustainable health tourism and climate-responsive wellness programs.

His professional journey extends beyond clinical care into policy, research, relief work, and medical education. While maintaining his career as a urologist, he has led and participated in multiple international conferences on health tourism, system resilience, and innovative models of healthcare delivery. His work during the Sudan war—transforming his medical center in Khartoum into a free emergency and humanitarian service hub—further strengthened his reputation as a physician deeply committed to ethical medical practice and community well-being.

Dr. Elmannaee is also an accomplished author and media contributor. His publications include books, scientific papers, and public-oriented essays on health tourism, environmental healing, medical system reform, and humanitarian medicine. He has contributed to television programs, international talks, and documentary initiatives, notably serving as the originator of Al Jazeera Documentary’s film “So They May Not Remain in Their Isolation,” which explores the human dimensions of social isolation.

Through his integrated vision—combining medicine, environmental sciences, public health, and humane leadership—Dr. Abdelaty Elmannaee continues to shape the evolving landscape of health tourism and sustainable healing ecosystems. His work stands as a testament to the belief that healthcare should be accessible, ethical, scientifically grounded, and deeply connected to human dignity.
